KidZania Bangkok: Any Fun For Toddlers?

KidZania, the hot new indoor playground in the style of a mini city for children to role-play. Started in 1999 in Mexico City, KidZania Bangkok is the largest thus far. The Little City is similar, but on a much smaller scale, and not with that depth of involvement. But KidZania is designed for 4 to 14 years old – how we wished there were more items for younger toddlers.

First off, how do we get to there?

Location is at Siam Paragon, level 5. Note that it’s at the exhibition side, and you could reach it via level 4 (see above map).

ChefWithTag

Guests receive a wrist-tag (pictured above) for security, and kids go into each activity space without their parents. Spaces for children below 4 years old are quite limited (see circled zones below).

So your child gets a first-hand experience of different professions (maybe there should be a version for teens to help with career & education paths?), and he earns KidZania currency (kidzos – & you get 50 upon entry). One could then spend the earned kidzos at zones like the supermarket. The real-world partner brands actually lends it significant authenticity.

There is actually a parents’ lounge on level 2, next to one of the spaces for toddlers – Urbano’s House (see gallery below: kitchen, ball pit, piano). Oh, and there’s FREE WIFI!

If your child is at least 8 years old, you have an option to drop him off at KidZania.

Verdict? If it stays as it is, we wouldn’t recommend it if your child is below 4 years old. However, I believe within the same concept, programmes could be designed for the younger crowd!

You will have another option quite soon, with KidZania opening in Singapore in 2015. We would be most curious to check out this branch!
